The EHS Specialist role will coordinate all aspects of plant environmental, health and safety ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures. The role is based in Brazil, IN but will have shared responsibilities for two other PPG sites (Casa Grande, AZ and Mt. Vernon IL).
Main Responsibilities:
Actively interact with employees and leadership to promote the PPG safety culture.
Champions the Safety Committee process and encourage participation and provide direction.
Oversee the incident investigation process to determine root cause and timely corrective actions.
Manage and monitor training programs to meet regulatory and company requirements.
Manage the site industrial hygiene sampling program to ensure accurate sampling, testing and exposure assessment.
Identify EHS needs and advised management on the development and implementation of effective EHS programs and activities.
Manage the sites environmental needs to maintain compliance with permits and regulatory requirements. Role will also manage sustainability for facility.
Trains and on boards all new hires to ensure understanding of EHS requirements.
Actively role model all company environmental, health and safety standards.
Must be willing to travel up to 25%.
A Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental or related field.
3 years' experience in the EHS field, preferred manufacturing or chemical setting.
Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, and the ability to interpret governmental regulations.
Must possess strong problem solving skills and be able to manage programs.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective presentation skills in a variety of settings.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines.
Proficiency in the use of computers with knowledge of MS office products including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Expert in change management and building a safety culture through influence and engagement.
Must be a persistent self-starter who can work effectively and lead others with minimum oversight.
Incumbent must be able to work effectively with all levels the organization and with individuals outside of the company.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
